Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said she would like to “introduce” the UniTeam led by its standard bearer former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his runningmate for vice president Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to the Negrenses.

Arroyo with her husband, former first gentleman Mike Arroyo, and their son, Pampanga Second District Representative Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, arrived in Negros Occidental yesterday, February 23.

The Arroyos met with the mayors and the sugar industry leaders in the province along with Marcos, Duterte-Carpio and some of their senatorial candidates.

"I brought them here so that they can talk to the people of Negros Occidental, who are (known to be) intelligent voters," Arroyo said, adding that “my role is to introduce them to our supporters here because Negros Occidental has always made my father (and) me win with big margin from the beginning.”

The former president said she invited the mayors and the sugar planters because they want to know what way they can help them.

Arroyo said Marcos’ wife, Liza Araneta, is from Bago City.

Meanwhile, Arroyo also affirmed her support for the comeback bid at the Bacolod City Council of former councilor Ricardo "Cano” Tan.

"He is a friend since 1992, (hence) I will support him," Arroyo said.*
