NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he prefers that the province would stay under Alert Level 2 in terms of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) risk transmission.

Lacson said that although Covid cases in the province have been going down, everyone should take care of themselves because the virus is still around.

“I would prefer to remain under Alert Level 3 but since they stated the province under Alert Level 2, I prefer that way," Lacson said.

He clarified that he always would like to be cautious against Covid-19, especially during the campaign sorties for the May 9 elections.

Lacson tested positive for coronavirus in January 2022 and was in isolation after having mild symptoms.

As of February 23, Negros Occidental still had 2,683 active cases.
