NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson remains noncommital as to who he will support for president in May 2022 elections.

"They will campaign for their candidate, I will campaign for mine," the governor said.

Lacson said after former congressman Julio Ledesma IV announced that he will support the BBM-Sara tandem, all leaders in the First District followed.

On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo said Lacson will support Vice President Leni Robredo for president.

Gustilo said this on the sidelines of the meeting of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his runningmate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio at the Stonehill Suites in Bacolod City.

Lacson did not categorically confirm that he is for Robredo.

"That is [only] according to Mayor Gustilo," Lacson, who was not present at the meeting and grand rally at the city’s reclamation area, said.

The First District, composed of the cities of San Carlos and Escalante, and the towns of Toboso, Calatrava and Don Salvador Benedicto, is all out for the UniTeam, he said.
