Real estate seller, ‘drug pusher’ shot dead in separate incidents

A WOMAN selling real estate and a man allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade were killed in separate shooting incidents in Toledo City and Cebu City in the last two days.

In Barangay Don Juan Climaco, Toledo City, Miriam Villaver Dantes, 42, was shot to death by a lone gunman at her sari-sari store past 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.

Dantes, who was also involved in selling real estate, succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.

Initial investigation showed that the culprit, who wore a blue mask and a black hooded jacket, approached Dantes and shot the victim at close range.

The gunman then boarded a yellow motorcycle driven by his cohort and fled the crime scene.

Investigators found a spent shell and a slug of a .45 pistol.

The motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined by the police.

Spolarium

In Cebu City, A 37-year-old man allegedly involved in illegal drug activities was shot dead on Spolarium St., Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City past 1 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022.

Joseph Fernandez “Jepjep” Gempisao of the barangay’s Sitio Micabaja died instantly after sustaining multiple bullet wounds in the body, according to Corporal Mark Anthony dela Victoria of the Mambaling Police Station.

A girl was also hit by a stray bullet.

Dela Victoria said Gempisao was shot several times by a motorcycle backrider.

Scene of the Crime Operatives personnel recovered from the scene nine spent shells of a .45 pistol, a cellphone owned by the victim and P1,147 in cash.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, Cebu City Police Office deputy director for operations, said the Mambaling police are gathering additional information about the illegal drug activity of the victim.

Police investigators are considering personal grudge or illegal drugs as the possible motive for the killing. (KAL, BBT / TPT)
