ANG Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) gikatakda nga mas aktibo sa pag-edukar sa mga botante kon unsaon sa pagpili og mga kandidato alang sa nasudnong eleksiyon sa Mayo 9 ning tuig apan dili mangampanya o motuboy og kandidato.
Sa press conference, si CBCP president Bishop Pablo David nagkanayon nga gusto sila nga malambigbit sa pagpirma sa panghunahuna sa mga tawo sa pagpili sa insaktong kandidato.
“Now, we are proactively -- let me insist on that -- encouraging the rest of the Church to get more involved in empowering the voters to choose the right candidates through collective discernment and consensus building that will hopefully lead to supporting or helping particular candidates to win,” matod ni David.
“We are spiritual and moral leaders, but we are also citizens of this country. And, as members of the Church, we must be proactively involved in the political life of the society as citizens,” dugang niya.
Sa samang higayon, nag-awhag sila sa matag usa nga mohimo og seryuso ug lawom nga pamalandong kon kinsa ang botaran.
“We don’t want the pulpit to be used in campaigning. We have to be more respectful. There are other venues for expressing ones political opinion..." matod ni David.
