Vayson loses to Monabesa in Indonesia

JAYSON Vayson suffered his first career defeat after a controversial points loss to Indonesian Tibo Monabesa in a World Boxing Council (WBC) International light flyweight fight at the Holywings Club in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Despite dominating the fight and knocking down Monabesa twice, Vayson still fell short in the eyes of the judges. No scores were announced after the fight.

The 23-year-old Vayson dropped Monabesa in the third round with a right straight.

Vayson, however, went down in the eighth round in what looked like a trip by Monabesa. But the referee ruled it a knockdown.

The following round, Vayson caught Monabesa with a counter right hook that sent him down to the canvas again.

Vayson dropped to 9-1-1 with five knockouts, while the 31-year-old Monabesa improved to 22-1-2 with eight knockouts.

Monabesa is rated No. 3 by the WBC, No. 9 by the World Boxing Organization and No. 13 by the International Boxing Federation.
