23 senators move to suspend e-sabong operations

THE Senate filed Monday, February 28, 2022, a resolution urging the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) to suspend the operation of "e-sabong," or online cockfight, until the cases of 31 missing cockfight aficionados are resolved.

Resolution 996 was introduced by Senator Ronald dela Rosa and signed by 22 other senators Monday. It called on Pagcor to suspend the license to operate of "e-sabong" operators and to immediately stop all activities related to it until the cases of the missing sabungeros are resolved.

Pagcor is a government agency that regulates the operations of online cockfighting.
