LAWMEN have arrested seven drug suspects as they dismantled a drug den and seized P136,000 worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation in the province of Lanao del Sur, the military reported Tuesday, March 1.
Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, identified the arrested drug suspects as Saokie Marakna Mala, Asnawi Musid Gontora, Ansano Musid Gontora, Jaber Dimao Mustapa, Abdul Kaher Gontora, Onaes Abdul Kader and Gontora Musib Agar.
Rosario said the suspects were arrested by joint military, police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) team Monday, February 28, in Tuka Kiadlan, Marantao, Lanao del Sur.
Major General Generoso Ponio, Joint Task Force ZamPeLan commander, said that 20 grams of substance believed to be shabu worth P136,000 were recovered from the drug den.
Also recovered were an M-14 rifle with magazine assembly and five live ammunition, one automatic sub-machine gun with magazine and five live ammunition, P1,000 marked money, two cellular phones, various identification cards, weighing scale, brown leatherette wallet containing P250, black sling bag, black belt bag, and other drug paraphernalia.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated items were brought to Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office for the filing of appropriate charges and proper disposition.
Rosario said they will continue to conduct law enforcement support operations with the police and other law enforcement agencies to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs in Lanao del Sur. (SunStar Zamboanga)
