THE Department of Agriculture (DA)-Central Luzon, through the Gender and Development Focal Point System, joined in this year's celebration of the National Women’s Month with the theme “We make change work for women.”
The official theme will be used from the year 2017 until 2022 which signifies the following meaning: WE stands for Women Empowerment; CHANGE means Compassionate and Harmonized Actions and Networks for Gender Equality; Make Change Work (MCW or Magna Carta of Women); We or “kami/tayo” emphasize that advocacy for gender equality is not solely for and from women.
In accordance with the Proclamation 227 s. 1988, the purpose of this celebration is to highlight the empowerment of women and recognize their contributions to our society.
Also, it aims to inform and engage women as stakeholders of government programs and services to promote citizen-centric government programs; create and facilitate platforms to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges in pursuing gender and development; and inspire and empower women and girls to be agents of change.
Employees of the DA-Central Luzon were encouraged to wear any purple on March 1, 11, 18, 25, and 31, 2022 as support to the advocacy activity in calling women and men advocates to advance women’s rights and gender equality, break gender stereotyping and stop gender based-violence and discrimination against women.
