THE Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-Barmm) opened an infirmary hospital on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in Parang, Maguindanao.

Health care is now accessible for the far-reaching Iranun communities in the municipality of Parang with the opening of the Iranun District Hospital (IDH).

Dr. Amirel Usman, MOH director-general and officer-in-charge of the IDH, said the opening of the hospital will also cater to patients from the towns Matanog, Buldon, Barira, Sultan Mastura, some parts of Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao, and even the towns and areas of Balabagan and Kapatagan in Lanao Del Sur.

“I am so glad that after more than 20 years of having this hospital, it is now finally open to serve mostly Iranun communities in Barmm,” Usman said.

The hospital was constructed through funds allocated by the late Congressman Didagen Dilangalen.

The new hospital has assigned four doctors, 20 nurses and 25 administrative support staff.

As an infirmary, they will care and treat mild to moderate illnesses, minor operations and admit patients up to 25 beds capacity.

Barmm Chief Minister Ahod Ibrahim said for a start, the IDH will receive an initial Ayudang Medikal Mula sa Bamgsamoro Government or Ambag assistance worth P10 million.

Parang Mayor Kahar Ibay recognized the important role of Barmm in providing funds to open the hospital.

“We recognized the key role of Barmm Government and everyone to share their efforts for the opening of this hospital. Our local government will closely coordinate with the hospital management to see what support we could extend during its operationalization,” Ibay said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
