A TOTAL of 25 farmers and municipal corn coordinators have undergone a two-day Corn and Cassava Cluster Development Training in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.
The training, which was facilitated by the Department of Agriculture–Corn and Cassava Program, was held from March 2 until March 3 in the town of Liloy.
Lorilee Estravillo, DA regional corn coordinator, said the two-day training was aimed to educate corn farmers in cluster management, simple business plan formulation, market promotion and opportunities identification.
Estravillo said the training focused on capacitation of farmer leaders, members, and municipal coordinators to understand the concept, as with the results of the clustering and consolidation approach, in support of Secretary William Dar’s One DA whole-of–nation approach to modernize agriculture in the country.
“We hope that what they learned from the training will be utilized in their respective communities and municipalities. Our Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño sends his message of gratitude to the corn farmers in Liloy and Zamboanga del Norte, as they continue to supply for the corn demands not only in the province but also for the region,” Estravillo said.
The two-day training was held with the support and assistance of the Liloy Municipal Agriculture Office and DA Regional Corn and Cassava Program Staff. (SunStar Zamboanga)
