THE Department of Agriculture, through the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Program (DA-BP2), has released some P1.4 million worth of agricultural projects and intervention in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Charlyn Acosta, BP2 focal person of the DA regional office, said the projects and intervention were released Friday, March 4, to the 26 identified beneficiaries in the town of Siay.

“The 26 qualified BP2 beneficiaries endorsed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received upgraded cattle – livestock with feeds, assorted vegetable seeds and set of garden tool interventions,” Acosta said.

“Training requirements will be provided to the beneficiaries to equip them on production and management technologies to implement and utilize the livelihood interventions from DA-BP2,” Acosta added.

The distribution of the DA-BP2 inputs was witnessed by Siay Municipal Agriculturist Elsa Bagaforo and DA-High Value Crops Development Program Coordinator Desiree Arriola.

The BP2 aims to provide hope for a better future to Filipinos through equity in resources throughout the country that will boost countryside development.

This program is geared towards addressing Metro Manila’s congested urban areas by encouraging people, especially informal settlers to return to their home provinces and assist them in this transition with support and incentives on transportation, family, livelihood, housing, subsistence and education, among others.
