Apple introduces new iPhones, plus more powerful gadgets

ONE of the things the pandemic has shed light were the possibilities and challenges that come with remote work. Never have people been more “tech-conscious” in the business-sense rather just for mere lifestyle and leisure consumption.

Generally speaking, people who deliver want tech tools that deliver — and this is where Apple, in spite of all the criticism for its perceived “half-baked” innovation — enters the conversation.

The number one Cupertino Big Tech company shared with the public earlier this week a few of its newest offerings in an online event dubbed “Peek Performance.” The news did not break the internet, as historically, Apple saves the best for the last quarter of the year. However, those serious about the work they do and looking for their first or next Apple product should find something good here.

Quickly, here are some high-powered gadgets Apple is bringing to the table this month:

New iPhone SE. This would be the third iteration of the “SE” line since Apple introduced the first iPhone in 2007. It now has the A15 Bionic chip, which is the same one used for the iPhone 13, and is 5G-ready. These simple changes add to the phone’s improved battery life and camera performance. Of course, the SE line is known to be the brand’s “affordable” offering, so it comes in a case that’s dated yet time-tested, similar if not the same as the iPhone 8.

New iPad Air. The iPad has been around since 2010. The iPad Air was introduced 10 years later with much improved specifications and case design. Today, those who use the iPad whether for graphic and visual design work or simply for browsing Facebook and occasionally spending 15 minutes a day on Wordle, would be pleased to learn that the new iPad Air houses the powerful M1 chip, a 12-megapixel ultra wide front camera, and is 5G-ready.

Mac Studio. This announcement was greeted with “oohs” and “aahs” across audiences around the world. The general consensus is that the Mac Studio is a practical but still beastly version of the Mac Pro. Its base model comes with the M1 Max chip and features a 24-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. The upgraded version comes with the new M1 Ultra chip and features a 48-core GPU, 32-core Neural Engine, 64GB of RAM, 1TB SSD.

For those looking for news about the latest flagship iPhone model, they will have to wait later this year. During “Peek Performance,” Apple simply announced that the iPhone 13 will be coming out in two new finishes: Green (for the base models) and Alpine Green (for the Pro models).
