The admin of the Facebook account “Balbal Binalbagan shoutout” who threatened to splash acid on presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo was already identified.

But Binalbagan town police chief Major Ellendie Rebusquillo said yesterday, March 11, that the admin, whose name he did not disclose, denied posting such a threat on the social media site.

The Facebook post reads, “Ready na amon acido isabya sa iya para makabalos man kami sa gin himu nila kay BBM pag caravan (We are ready to splash acid on her to avenge what they did to BBM during his caravan).”

The post was apparently referring to the incident in Talisay City last month wherein campaign fliers were thrown at the caravan of another presidential aspirant, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marco Jr., hitting his face.

For Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo) spokesperson Lieuteanant Abegael Donasco, the post could be considered a threat or can just be dismissed as a simple joke.

Regardless if it was a simple joke or not, they did not take it lightly and ensured that no incident will happen at the campaign sortie of Robredo in Binalbagan town yesterday, Donasco said.

“It’s up to the vice president if she would file charges against the person (who threatened her),” Donasco also said, adding that there should be concrete evidence against the social media account owner before any legal action will be taken against him.

Meanwhile, supporters of Robredo were asking the admin of the account to issue a public apology even though the post was already removed as of yesterday.*
