DA holds free-range chicken production training

THE Department of Agriculture (DA), through its Kabuhaan at Kaunlaran para sa Kababayang Katutubo (4K), conducted a two-day livelihood training on free-range chicken production in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Some 30 farmers from Duelic village, Midsalip attended the livelihood training held from March 8 to 9.

May Harap of the DA-Mahayag Livestock and Breeding Center, who served as the resource speaker, imparted to the participants the different components of Free-Range Native Chicken Production and Management.

Juvy Guatno, DA-4K focal person, said the two-day training provided the farmers the proper knowledge and skills needed to raise chicken for meat, and egg production.

“This can support the livelihood of farmers capacitating them to be able to a small-scale commercial poultry business,” Guatno said.

Meanwhile, the DA-4K Team also conducted profiling and site validation in Duelic village, to further identify and assess the needs and capabilities of the beneficiaries in the area. (SunStar Zamboanga)
