UNDERSECRETARY Victor del Rosario has been installed as the new regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (Dole 7).

Del Rosario assumed the post last Monday, March 7, 2022, less than four months before the end of the Duterte Administration.

In a statement, the department described his appointment as a concurrent regional director and undersecretary for Central Visayas affairs as “a first in the history of the department.” Del Rosario replaces Marion Sevilla, who herself served Dole 7 for less than four months, having been appointed to the post only on Nov. 29, 2021.

Lawyer Sevilla is now assistant regional director of Dole 5 (Bicol Region).

Del Rosario was named Dole undersecretary on Dec. 16, 2021, after serving as Dole assistant secretary from Oct. 8, 2020.

A native of Tabunan, Almeria in Biliran Province in Eastern Visayas, Del Rosario took up public administration at Leyte School of Professionals in Tacloban City and clinched a master’s degree in development management and governance at University of Makati.

He was a municipal councilor of Naval, the capital of Biliran.

He was also president and chief executive officer of the now defunct Philippine Sugar Corp. in 2017 before his appointment as National Youth Commissioner for the Visayas in 2018, during which he became a member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Appeals Committee.
