THE Iloilo City Modular Hospital in Sooc, Arevalo district can now admit mild to moderate cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) following the issuance of License to Operate by the Department of Health.
“We are finally able to operate our modular field hospital under the supervision of The Medical City-Iloilo (TMCI). In case of any surge in the future as we are now in Alert Level 1 as approved by the IATF, we are ready to take care of mild to moderate cases of Covid-19. Thank you, DOH and The Medical City,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said.
The facility will be open for service patients that will be referred by TMCI after assessment in their emergency room.
It will only cater to Covid-19 patients to decongest hospitals and to improve the city's healthcare utilization.
Treñas said it will be exclusive for city residents in the meantime, but will accommodate patients from the province of Iloilo and other areas in Panay if and when there is a surge in cases.
As an extension hospital of TMCI, the health facility will likewise serve as training venue for personnel of City Health Office in preparation for the Iloilo City Hospital.
“We are pursuing the best possible healthcare for all Ilonggos, not just because there is a pandemic. Our health facilities and even personnel are being upgraded and capacitated for much improved services to our people,” he added.
Another 44-bed modular hospital also in Sooc is awaiting its License to Operate, bringing the city’s total additional Covid bed capacity to 76. (PR)
