THE Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office III, through its Curriculum and Learning Management Division, developed the contextualized Life Skills Self-Directed Modules (LSSDMs) for the Alternative Learning System (ALS) based from the modules originally developed by United States Agency for International Development (USAid) Education Development Center (EDC) for Opportunity 2.0 Program Life Skills for Self-Directed Learning as resource materials for Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners.
These contextualized modules, which were translated to Filipino to address the ALS’ learners’ comprehension needs and learning of skills and understanding of competencies, are truly a pride of Region 3 as they symbolize the dedication of our ALS teachers and writers to develop these modules as supplementary learning materials for ALS elementary and junior high school learners. After months of validation, finalization, and a series of workshops, write-shops, and consultation activities, finally these self-directed modules will land the hands of our ALS students and help them in their studies.
Not only will these contextualized modules aid easier learning for our ALS learners, but these materials will also be a way to cultivate our culture and heritage as the contents feature local leaders and the Filipino brand of leadership, with a compendium of local illustrations that depicted culture and heritage, neatly tied in by picture-perfect and camera shots of actual experiences and activities done by Region III ALS learners.
The contextualized modules are expected to trigger inspiration, establish connections, and relate to learners' actual experiences leading towards facilitated learning for the first two months of ALS classes.
The contextualized modules are composed of Modyul 1 (Pagpapaunlad ng Sarili), Modyul 2 (Interpersonal na Komunikasyon), Modyul 3 (Pamumuno at Pakikiisa), Modyul 3 (Mga Gawi at Ugali sa Trbaho, Modyul 5 (Kaligtasan at Kalusugan sa Trabaho, and Modyul 6 (Mga Karapatan at Responsibilidad ng mga Manggagawa at Taga-Empleyado).
