THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) is constructing a P25-million public market in Barira, Maguindanao to boost the local economic growth and enhance government service in the town.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, Barmm’s Minister of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), led Friday, March 11, the groundbreaking ceremony signaling the start of the construction of the public market.

Sinarimbo said the infrastructure project is funded under the Bangsamoro Local Economic Support Services (Bless) program to provide and ameliorate local economic enterprise infrastructure and supports facilities of the Local Government Units (LGUs) across Barmm.

Sinarimbo said the new public market is expected to operate and maintain income-generating enterprise support to spur local economic growth and activities, and offer opportunities to constituents in the town of Barira.

"This project will provide a suitable public market as well as its neighboring towns and we want the LGU to generate its capacities to have an additional source of income," Sinarimbo said.

Meanwhile, Barira Vice Mayor Bahrain Dagalangit expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of the Barmm government.

"The project provided by MILG-Barmm, together with all the road projects and other infrastructure, has helped our people of Barira which was one of the affected towns during the war," Dagalangit said.

"The sacrifice of the lives of our parents and Mujahideen is now being replaced by the implementation of various projects to improve the lives of the Bangsamoro," he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
