(Foreword: This is the continuation of our response to the letter of H. Chicano on his body odor problem.)

DEAR H. Chicano,

Moving on... Now, learn how to prevent body odor. This is the best way to fight body odor. You can do this by washing your skin well with a wet washcloth and soap, especially to those areas that are predisposed to sweating. Now, consider these tips:

1.Take a bath or shower daily. Make sure to scrub your underarms with washcloth and antibacterial soap.

2. Regularly wash your clothes and make sure to use only the clean ones. And if you are sweating out in a gym, be sure to only wear washed clothes.

3. As much as possible avoid strong-smelling foods, as they may get out to your pores. Garlic, onions are just a few of them.

4. You can use antiperspirant even at bedtime. Tawas powder is a very good alternative. This can work as antiperspirant and deodorant as well. Whatever antiperspirant you will be using gives the product a chance to work while you are asleep and are not sweating. Applying antiperspirants after shower will wash away the product and might make you defenseless against daytime sweating. Moreover, deodorants do not prevent sweating. They only mask the smell your body is giving off.

5. Make sure to keep your underarms dry. This will make the bacteria have a hard time to live in your body. And shaving your underarms always will help prevent the buildup of bacteria and can cut off much of the sweat and odor.

Hope that helps! Good luck!
