IPM Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) has asked the City Government of Bacolod for an eight-month extension of contract of services for collection, hauling and disposal of garbage in the city.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said yesterday, March 14, that they received the request of the IPM-CDC on March 11, 2022 about the contract extension from May to December this year.

He said the city’s garbage hauler also asked for an eight-month extension of their contract for the management and operation of the sanitary landfill facility in Barangay Felisa.

He added the IPM-CDC's request was already referred to the committee on laws chaired by Councilor Dindo Ramos.

The contract of the company with the city will end next month, the vice mayor said.

Ramos is set to conduct a conference or public hearing with the Solid Waste Management Board and the committee of environment chaired by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez before deciding on the matter.

"They will look into the compliance of the contract between the city government and the IPM-CDC," Familiaran said.

After the public hearing, he added, Ramos will submit its report and recommendation to the City Council and it will be the basis for the City Council’s resolution.*
