So urges PLDT Home if your internet service providers (ISPs) “are delivering as promised.”
It could not get any clearer than that as it added that subscribers must use “unbiased” third-party for speed testing. It recommended Speedtest by Ookla which recently named PLDT Home as the fastest ISP among key cities in the country.
It added that it “is the most respected online service of its kind.” It is “popular among ordinary consumers and IT professionals alike, it is free and easy to use and has become an unbiased means to compare ISP speeds worldwide.”

Online internet testers like Speedtest by Ookla is being recommended by PLDT Home.
Ooh lala, so goes the French expression for excitement.
PLDT Home stated: “The need for faster internet connection at home continues to grow even as the country slowly eases out of the pandemic. This makes it more important for consumers to ensure that their internet service providers (ISPs) are delivering as promised by using an unbiased third-party service, like Speedtest by Ookla”.
In a statement, PLDT Home said it currently holds the record of being the fastest broadband network in the Philippines for the 4th consecutive year based on the Ookla Speedtest Awards Q3-Q4 2021.
In the recent Ookla report, PLDT showed top download speeds of 203.97 Mbps and top upload speeds of 217.07 Mbps – or a Speed Score of 77.24. This is a big jump from the telco’s previous Speed Score of 27.28 in the second half of the previous year.
Regular internet testing assures a user of having optimal internet speeds for productive online work. Some people, however, use the service to detect home connectivity issues or even to decide whether they need a speed upgrade to keep up with their family’s growing connectivity needs. It also allows subscribers to “compare the result with the ISPs advertised speeds.”
When testing internet speeds, users, PLDT Home states, “should keep in mind that since devices have different Wi-Fi capabilities, it’s only normal that different devices will register varying download/upload speeds, even on the same connection. Also, the Wi-Fi router itself affects the test result, so users must ensure it is set properly and supports the full speed of the internet service for a more accurate result.”

On the other hand, Ookla also has great yields for one of PLDT Home’s competitor.
Towards the end of 2021, Philippines’ fastest growing and pure fiber data network and ISP Converge ICT Solutions was recently verified by Ookla as “the most consistent fixed internet provider.”
Ohh lala also for Converge.
This covers five regions for the last quarter of 2021, namely, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley with consistency scores of 82.6, 81.45, 82.99, 80.36, and 85.59 respectively.
Unbiased, I guess so, indeed.

Converge, in a statement early this year said that its Q4 2021 score also “showed improvement from the same year’s Q1 score of 72.75 to 82.2 percent consistency score, measuring the percentage of a provider’s samples that equals or exceeds a fixed threshold of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.”
Likewise, with the thousands of consumer-initiated tests taken with Speedtest, Converge results showed a “median latency rate of 4ms and a jitter rate of 2ms for the last quarter of 2021. The former measures how quickly a device gets a response after a user sends out a request, while the latter measures the delay between when a signal is transmitted and when it’s received.”
That equates to what was promised, I suppose.
The mentioned metrics reflected the overall quality of a connection beyond raw speed, validating significant investments on Converge’s high speed network as well as the quality of the connections all over the network.
