AN ALLEGED drug peddler was found inside the public cemetery of Barangay Granada in Bacolod City Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2022.

He was brutally killed.

Darwin Nuñez, 22, of Purok Pedring in Barangay Estefania had a slit throat while his intestines were already protruding when his body was found on top of a tomb past 2 p.m., Police Station 5 commander Captain John Christopher Magsangkay said.

Nuñez’s 18-year-old neighbor, whose name is being withheld, told the police that they went to the cemetery around 9 p.m. Tuesday to sell marijuana to an unidentified man.

The teenager said as they were about to leave, the man asked Nuñez to accompany him inside the cemetery, claiming he might have dropped his wallet.

The man also promised Nuñez that he would give him an extra amount of money after they found his wallet, he said.

The teenager added that about two to three minutes later, he heard Nuñez shouting “wala ko to ya (I didn't do it).”

“Thinking that it was a buy-bust operation, the teenager sped off his motorcycle and found out yesterday that Nuñez failed to go home,” Magsangkay said.

The police official added that Nuñez possibly knew the suspect personally, adding that they will inquire if the victim is on the drugs watchlist.

He said they are trying to look into the possibility that misunderstanding over illegal drugs transactions triggered the killing.

The witness is now under police custody but he is not considered as a person of interest.
