‘Super Bobby’ Nalzaro to be laid to rest today
AFTER a three-day wake in Cebu City, veteran journalist Pablito Galeza Nalzaro will be laid to rest on Monday, March 21, 2022.
Nalzaro, also known as “Super Bob” or “Super Bobby,” died last Thursday, March 17 at the age of 58. Nalzaro died of multiple organ failure following a stroke in December last year.
The wake for the hard-hitting commentator began Friday, March 18, at the Our Lady of China Chapel of the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (Sacred Heart Parish) on D. Jakosalem St.
A mass was hosted by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas on the first night of the wake. The following night, GMA Network -- Nalzaro’s broadcast company -- led the activities.
On Sunday night, Nalzaro’s radio dySS Super Radyo family spearheaded activities for the final wake. The late journalist’s close friends sang his favorite songs on the same night. Three of the songs are Nalzaro’s favorites: “One In A Million You,” “Kahit Isang Saglit” and “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?”
Cremation
On Monday morning, the remains of Nalzaro will be cremated in a funeral home in Cebu City.
Afterward, the urn containing his ashes will be brought back to the Sacred Heart Parish for the memorial service at 1 p.m.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma will officiate the funeral mass. Then a tribute from his colleagues at GMA and radio dySS will follow.
Nalzaro’s longtime friend Cirse “Choy” Torralba, also a veteran radio commentator, will deliver a speech on behalf of Super Bobby’s friends in and outside of the media world.
The inurnment of the veteran journalist, who also wrote commentary columns for Superbalita Cebu and SunStar Cebu, then takes place in a columbary in Mandaue City.
