FORMER Senator Gregorio Honasan is pushing for legislation that will educate the government sector about the potential for information communication and technology (ICT)-driven connectivity.

Honasan arrived in Negros Occidental Sunday, March 20, 2022, for the 22nd Anniversary of Philippine Guardian Brotherhood Inc. where he serves as the national president.

"There is a mechanism called the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac) to include ICT in the national agenda to be agreed upon by both the executive and the legislative departments," Honasan said.

"There should be a plan. We are managing a critical factor called time," he added.

Under his watch as secretary of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), he said he helped improve connectivity in the Philippines by at least 800 percent.

"This is to credit the young ICT professionals in the DICT," he said.

"The country is not anymore at the bottom in terms of information connectivity, but we are not also on top. We are somewhere in the middle," Honasan said.

He added that he also implemented the "common tower program," where telecommunications companies can share towers to hasten connectivity.

Honasan is gunning a return to the Senate under the UniTeam of former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
