PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula awards medal to 9 policewomen

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula on Monday, March 21, awarded medal to nine policewomen, including two officers, for exemplary performance and devotion to duty.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the awardee as Police Major Jubaira Pandaog, Police Captain Natividad Baring, Police Staff Sergeant Melba Adjarani, Police Staff Sergeant Karla Pauline Orfano, Police Patrolwoman Norhayda Isman, Police April Joy Vicente, Police Executive Master Sergeant Marilou Reynacia, Police Staff Sergeant Jevelyn Atalibo, and Police Patrolwoman Midzrifa Tahil.

Pandaog, Baring, Adjarani, Orfano, Isman, and Vicente were awarded Medalya ng Kasanayan (PNP Efficiency Medal) for exemplary performance and devotion to duty during the Booster Dose Vaccination program to the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel and their dependents during the Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination Days part three and four on February 16 to 18 and March 10 to 12.

Reynacia and Atalibo were awarded Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Merit Medal) for exemplary performance and devotion to duty during the service of warrant of arrest on February 14, 2022 in Barangay Kulasian, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay that resulted in the arrest of Ruben Sardane, number 2 most wanted person (provincial level) for statutory rape.

Meanwhile, Tahil received Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for her exemplary performance and devotion to duty during the conduct of "Libreng Tuli (Free Circumcision)" on March 15, 2022 at Seaborne headquarters, R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City wherein 35 beneficiaries were given free circumcision.

"By this outstanding feat, the aforementioned PNP personnel (Tahjil) has brought honor and prestige, worthy of praise and emulation by their peers and the entire Philippine National Police," the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement.

The awarding of medal was held after Monday's flag raising ceremony at Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan, home of the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula headquarters in Mercedes village, Zamboanga City.

Lawyer Stephen Roy Cañete, first district election officer, Monday's guest speaker, led the awarding of medal to the policewomen awardees.

Cañete congratulated the awardees and advised them to keep up the good work.

An all-female platoon led the Monday flag-raising ceremony in recognition of the valuable role of women in the PNP organization and in the society as a whole. It is also in line with the celebration of the national women's month.

The Women's Month Celebration has since served as a venue to highlight women's achievements and discuss continuing and emerging women's empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments. (SunStar Zamboanga)
