THE Philippine Army has assigned two officers to its premier command, the 1st Infantry "Tabak" Division (ID), based in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.
The two officers, Colonel William George Cordova and Major Dominador Pongos, were welcomed by Brigadier General Jose Randolph Sino Cruz, 1ID assistant division commander, on Monday, March 21, during the flag-raising ceremony.
Captain Mary Jephte Mañebog, 1ID information officer, said that Cordova held significant positions prior to his assignment with Tabak Division.
Cordova was formerly the assistant chief of staff for Education and Training of the 5th Infantry Division; commandant of the 5th Division Training School; and chief, Information Operation Division and Acting Chief of Readiness and Organization Division of the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Mañebog said that Cordova completed his Master in National Security Studies Program (NSSP) with the National Defense College of the Philippines.
She said Pongos is a cavalry officer who has served the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
Pongos was also designated as deputy chief of operations of the Aviation Regiment (Provisional), Philippine Army.
Cordova belongs to the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1994 while Pongos is a member of the Officer Preparatory Course Class 54-2006. (SunStar Zamboanga)
