FIFTY-FOUR agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Victorias City are now landowners as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) awarded them duplicate copies of their certificates of land ownership award (Cloas) recently.

The properties formerly owned by Ana Eva Francisco have a total area of 10.0855 hectares located in Barangay 13 in the northern Negros Occidental locality.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Jeremiah Barriento, who led the ceremony, urged farmer-beneficiaries to remember their obligations as new landowners, which include paying taxes and amortization with the Land Bank of the Philippines.

“We will continue to assist you through Legal and Support Services of the DAR,” he assured.

On January 26, 2022, the agency also conducted the same activity involving the landholding previously managed by Elena Montelibano.

With a total area of 90.5076 hectares, the property is located at Hacienda Dolores, Barangay 20, Victorias City.

Amid the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the activities complied with minimum health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health, DAR-Negros Occidental I said.

The DAR is the lead government agency that holds and implements comprehensive and genuine agrarian reform which actualizes equitable land distribution, ownership, agricultural productivity, and tenurial security for the tillers of the land towards the improvement of their quality of life, it added.
