Rerouting set for GP, Team Asenso grand rallies

THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will conduct a traffic rerouting for the motorcade and grand rallies of Grupo Progreso (GP) and Team Asenso in Bacolod City on Saturday, March 26, a day after the start of the local campaign period.

Dennis Perma, spokesperson of BTAO, said Thursday, March 24, that several traffic enforcers will be deployed to various areas to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

He said the grand rally of GP will be held at the public plaza, while that of Team Asenso will also be held at Paglaum Sports Complex.

GP is headed by incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia, while Team Asenso is led by his challenger, former congressman Alfredo Benitez.

For the public utility vehicles (PUV) plying Bata route from San Sebastian-Araneta Street, they will take a left turn to Hernaez Street, then right turn to Mabini Street, another left turn to Lizares Street, back to Hernaez Street, then right turn to Lopez Jaena, left turn to Rosario Street and right turn to Locsin street going to the destination.

For the PUV plying Mandalagan route from Lizares-Araneta Street, they need to take a left turn to Araneta Street, then right turn to Hernaez Street, another left turn to Lizares Street, back to Hernaez Street, then right turn to Lopez Jaena Street, left turn to Rosario, then right turn to Araneta Street going to the destination.

For Banago route from Lizares-Araneta Street, they need to take a left turn to Araneta Street then, right turn to Hernaez Street, another right turn to Mabini Street, then left turn to Lizares Street, back to Hernaez Street, then right turn to Lopez Jaena, another left turn to Luzuriaga going to destination.

For private vehicles, Perma said those from north to south can use the Circumferential Road and Araneta and San Juan Streets.

Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said several policemen will be deployed to the rally areas.

He said Police Station 1 commander Major Ramel Sarona was also tasked to put police assistance desk near the rally sites, adding that policemen from various police stations will also augment the personnel of Police Station 1.

Gabana also urged the public not to bring valuable materials during rally to avoid any untoward incidents.
