SIX fishermen were arrested by government authorities in the municipal waters of Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported.
Arrested were the following: Christian Romero Duhilag, 17; Jeffrey Durias Tanduyan, 31; Felix Sarabia Lucion, 58; Raffy Gonzaga Ginoo, 17; Sherwin Malon Ginoo, 19; and Renald Delacruz Gunhuran, 17
Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said they were arrested for illegal fishing around 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, in the waters of Muldok in Lapaz village, Alicia.
Larubis said the joint police and municipal agriculture office team were conducting law enforcement operations when they arrested the six fishermen for illegal fishing.
He said confiscated from the six arrested fishermen were a motorboat and fishing paraphernalia with an estimated value of P20,000.
Larubis said corresponding penalties will be imposed against the arrested fishermen. (SunStar Zamboanga)
