A VILLAGE official and a watchman died while nine others were injured in a vehicular accident in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, March 28, 2022.
Police Colonel Alberto Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, disclosed the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27, along the national highway of Baga village, Naga.
Larubis identified the fatalities as follows: Pastra Jain, 47, village councilor representing Indigenous Peoples; and Hasim Antol, 53, a village watchman.
Wounded were identified as Jomar Abduhraman, 38; Sanjibar Abdurahman, 29; Anhar Abduhraman, 31; Mey Sarah Antol, 52; Jessie Gadiangan, 48; Ambrin Abduhrahman, 43; Hamid Alsree, 57; Nurhani Alsree, 51; and Shariffa Marjona Alsree, 21.
Larubis said investigation disclosed the victims were aboard a pick-up truck driven by Jomar, who lost control of the steering wheel while trying to overtake another vehicle as they were traveling from Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay to Ipil, the province’s capital.
He said the vehicle fell on its side that injured all of the people aboard.
He said they were rushed to the hospital, however, Jain and Hasim were declared dead on arrival. (SunStar Zamboanga)
