THE Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in Negros Occidental is backing a proposal made by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to set up a task force against vote buying during election period.
PPCRV-Negros Occidental priest in-charge Rev. Fr. Chris Gonzales, who also heads the Diocese of Bacolod's Social Action Center, said the Comelec's proposal is a great idea as it will further prevent vote buying.
He also regarded vote buying as a "devil's work," thus he urged the public to treat their votes as "sacred," pointing out that such a form of democracy is not available in other countries.
The priest also urged the public to treat their votes seriously, as the future of everyone depends on it.
The PPCRV is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-profit organization affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines.
The PPCRV is responsible for poll education campaign and serves as watchdog against all types of electoral fraud.
