'Lolo' dies in collision

A SEPTUAGENARIAN man died after his motorcycle collided with a Ceres bus along the national highway of Barangay Gargato in Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Hinigaran City Police Chief Captain Ryan Villasario identified the victim as Cornelio Tiamsing, 78, of Sitio Ambacan, Barangay Gargato.

Investigation showed that Tiamsing was riding his motorcycle and heading south of the road while the bus was tailing him when the accident happened at Sitio Acacia.

Tiamsing, who sustained severe injuries, died upon arrival at the Hinigaran Medical Clinic.

Bus driver Khianthler Barcelona, 32, of Barangay Guintubhan in Isabela is now under police custody.

Meanwhile, a driver was killed and his passenger was injured when a pedicab collided with a pick-up at the national highway of Barangay Guadalupe in San Carlos City, Sunday, March 27, 2022.

Richard Liandres, alias "Richard," 34, of Fatima Village in Barangay Rizal in the city died upon arrival at the San Carlos City Hospital due to injuries he sustained.

His passenger Leonidas Albano, 45, of Hacienda Florentino also in Barangay Rizal, is now recuperating at the same hospital.

Investigation showed that the pick-up vehicle driven by Abdias Arseno, 62, of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City was heading north when it collided with the approaching pedicab.

Arseno is now under police custody.
