THE pearl-shaped Island Born of Fire and the "land of lanzones," Camiguin Island may be one of the Philippines' smallest provinces, second to Batanes, but it's packed with natural and historic wonders travel dreams are made of.
Embraced with more than 66 kilometers of gleaming white-sand shoreline, plus islets of similar nature, makes Camiguin one of the sought-after beach destinations in the country. Going beyond the blue and white of the island's fringes, the verdant interior is as great as a diving spot for historic spots.
Camiguin's geographic location in the Bohol Sea makes it the gateway of Visayas to Mindanao and vice-versa. "Open na Cami!" Opening the gates after two years of requisite closure, the call of Camiguin Island is loud and clear. But Camiguin says, "don't let your masks down yet" as they still practice minimum health protocols even with the travel restrictions relaxing.
Clean Camiguin woos Davao markets
Recently, the Province of Camiguin hosted a product presentation on its Clean Camiguin tourism campaign for travel trade, corporate, and media establishments based in the Davao region Seda Abreeza Hotel Davao.
"We are very excited to announce that the Island of Camiguin is now open to receive guests and ready to provide excellent and memorable experiences post pandemic," said Camiguin Provincial Tourism Officer Candice Borromeo-Dael.
The product presentation shared the latest information on current alert level entry protocols, accommodation, connectivity, tourist site enhancement, festivals and events, and things to do in the island to around 60 establishments. The updates were aligned with the island's major push for responsible tourism.
"Our Governor JJ Romualdo is leaving no stones unturned to ensure that tourism plays a leadership role in sustainable local economic recovery efforts," Borromeo-Dael added.
