SSS reminds delinquent employers in Sagay, Cadiz of legal obligations

FOLLOWING the directive of the newly-appointed Social Security System (SSS) president and chief executive officer Michael Regino, the agency issued written notices to six erring establishments in northern Negros Occidental during its Run After Contribution Evaders (Race) Campaign on Monday, March 28, 2022.

The SSS, in a statement Tuesday, March 29, reported that in Sagay City, two employers failed to comply with their legal obligations under Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018 to remit their employees’ monthly Social Security (SS) and Employees Compensation (EC) contributions from 2019 to 2021 amounting to P211,634.01 inclusive of penalties.

For other establishments in Cadiz City were visited by the Race Team for non-registration of business with the SSS.

SSS Vice President for Visayas West 1 Division Lilani Benedian said employers’ non-compliance with the SS Law deprives their employees from availing the various benefits and loan privileges especially when they are in dire need of financial assistance.

That is why, Benedian said, they conduct the Race campaign to personally remind delinquent employers of their legal obligations and instruct them to comply immediately.

“We are also offering them an option to settle their delinquencies through availment of the Enhanced Installment Payment Program under Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program 3 (PRRP 3),” she added.

The owners of these establishments are given a non-extendable period of 15 days from service of notice within which to comply or settle their delinquency.

Otherwise, face any criminal and civil actions the SSS may be compelled to file against them upon the lapse of the given period, the agency said.

Employers are mandated by the SSS Law to register their businesses with the SSS through www.sss.gov.ph or by accomplishing the Employer Registration Form (SS Form R-1).

Coverage of all employees is compulsory including ”kasambahays” or house helpers not over 60 years of age and their household employers, it said, adding that employers must submit a duly accomplished SS Form R1-A within 30 days from the actual employment date.

Employers who wish to avail of the PRRP 3 are advised to coordinate with their assigned account officers on or before November 21 this year.

Aside from PRRP 3, condonation of penalties under PRRP 2 may be availed until May 19 by all delinquent employers with overdue SS contributions from March 2020 up to the present. (With PR)
