COMEDIAN Chris Rock appeared on stage during his first of two shows in Boston’s Wilbur Theater today, March 31 (PH time), and received back-to-back standing ovations. Rock is currently on his "Ego Death Tour.”

"How was your weekend?" quipped the comedian.

"I don't have a bunch of s*** about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I had like a whole show I wrote before this weekend. And I'm still kind of processing what happened, so at some point I'll talk about that s***. And it'll be serious and it'll be funny, but right now I'm going to tell some jokes."

During the Academy Awards on Monday (PH time) actor Will Smith slapped Rock on live television for a joke the comedian said about Smith’s wife, Jada, and her shaved head.

"I haven't talked to anyone, despite what you heard,” Rock told the audience.

Smith has since issued an apology.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness," Smith posted on his Instagram.

The Academy also released a statement on March 31 (PH time) saying that it asked Smith to leave the ceremony but he “refused.” (LQ3)
