MAYOR Jerry Treñas has urged Iloilo City Government employees to maximize the one-day off from work to spend time with their families.

This, as Iloilo City Hall started Monday, March 28, its four-day work arrangement up to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"This scheme will give City Hall employees more time to be with their families by having a longer weekend since we don't work on a Friday. Nothing is more important than time spent with family," he said.

The initiative was in response to rising fuel prices and for the city to conserve energy.

Essential services, however, continue with their five-day schedule, including: Public Safety and Transportation Management Office, City Health Office district health offices, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, General Services Office streetsweepers and field workers, City Social Welfare Development Office, and City Environment and Natural Resources Office field workers.

The work scheme was suggested by the National Economic and Development Authority. (PR)
