Village chief thanks mayor for plastic-for-rice program

A VILLAGE chief in Angeles City has expressed gratitude to Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. for initiating the "Plastic for Rice" program.

Balibago Barangay Chairman Tony Mamac lauded the program and said that it is a big help to the government's effort to protect the environment and at the same time help indigent people.

Mamac said residents in his barangay was able to produce 3,000 kilos of plastic for two months which will be in exchange for 3,000 kilos of rice.

"Isang kilong plastic kapalit isang kilong bigas," the barangay chairman said.

(One kilo of plastic is equivalent to one kilo of rice.)

The barangay official urged his constituents to participate in the program.

The program is a big help to the people of Balibago especially now that the country is still recovering from the bad effects of Covid-19 pandemic, the village chief said.
