THE municipality of Montevista in Davao de Oro, along with Cateel and Mati City in Davao Oriental, joined Davao City under the less strict Alert Level 1 beginning April 1 until 15.

This was announced by acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar on Thursday evening, March 31.

Davao City has been under Alert Level 1, the lowest Covid-19 alert level classification set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), since March 1.

A total of 198 areas were placed under Alert Level 1 as the country continues to enjoy the continuing downtrend of Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental remain under Alert Level 2.

Under Alert Level 1, all restrictions, including venue or transportation capacity and travel, will be removed and all businesses will be allowed to operate.

There will also no longer be restrictions for the vulnerable population such as children, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.

The public, however, is advised to continue to adhere to minimum public health protocols, particularly the wearing of face masks and maintenance of physical distancing to prevent a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the country.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier said that Alert Level 1 could be considered the “new normal.”

A positivity rate of under five percent for two weeks is one of the indicators that coronavirus infections are under control, according to WHO.

The positivity rate is the percentage of all coronavirus tests performed that come out positive.

Under Alert Level 2, intrazonal and interzonal movement will be allowed, subject to reasonable restrictions that the local government units may impose.

Select establishments or activities are permitted to operate at a maximum of 50 percent indoor capacity for fully vaccinated individuals and 70 percent outdoor capacity.
