A SERIES of combat operations by 4th Infantry Division (4ID) from March 28 to 30, 2022 has resulted in the recovery of firearms and the surrender of one community terrorist group (CTG) member.

The 4ID reported that its troops seized one M16 Rifle, assorted medicines and food supplies during a combat operation against five CTG members in Sitio Bendum, Barangay Busdi in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on March 30.

On March 29, a 10-minute gun battle against 15 CTG members in Sitio Hubason, Barangay San Vicente Carmen, Surigao del Sur resulted in the recovery of one M16 Rifle, one Carbine Rifle, one caliber .22 rifle with scope, and one caliber .45 Pistol, four improvised explosive devices and other war materials.

Meanwhile, on March 28, an 18-year-old CTG member identified as MJ surrendered and revealed to the troops the arms cache in Sitio Mahogany, Barangay Ibuan, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte containing four AK47 Rifles, one M1 Garand Rifle, several AK47 magazines and live ammunition.

According to the military report, MJ sustained wounds on her left calf after a series of encounters on February 4 and March 16 this year in Barangay Tungao, Butuan City.

Major General Wilbur Mamawag, 4ID commander, lauded the troops for their unceasing dedication to cleansing communities of CTG infestation.

He added that the whole Joint task Force Diamond, in cooperation with various stakeholders, will never allow the CTG to disrupt our peace and development endeavors in the barangays.

“We will not hesitate to use all available AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) assets, if necessary, to address every emerging CTG threat in the AOR (area of responsibility). But what we preferred most is for our misguided brothers to peacefully return to their families to rebuild their lives under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip),” Mamawag further said.
