SIX people, including two set of couples, were arrested in two separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cebu City from April 3 to 4, 2022.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA 7) arrested live-in partners Joselito Lao, 61, and Christina Clemente, 60, in Barangay Lorega San Miguel at 11:50 a.m, Sunday, April 3. Also arrested was the couple’s son Jake Lao and his friend Eduardo Cabasag, both 39 years old.

Anti-drug operatives recovered around 12 grams of suspected shabu worth P81,000 from the four suspects.

In a statement, the PDEA 7 officials said they had received reports that the couple was involved in maintaining a drug den in the area. They launched the operation after confirming the information.

On Monday, April 4, another couple was arrested the same day in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City at 2 a.m.

The drug bust, conducted by operatives of the Police Drug Enforcement Group-Central Visayas (PDEG 7), resulted in the arrest of Carlden Englatera, 30, and his live-in partner Celeste Basiga, 40.

Englatera, who works as a motorcycle taxi driver, and Basiga, who is a hair dresser, are both residents of Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City.

Recovered from the couple were shabu worth P68,000. Capt. Roy Rondina of PDEG 7 said a recently arrested drug suspect informed them about the illegal activity of Englatera and Basiga.

The six drug suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (HIC, BBT)
