2 NPA members surrender in Zamboanga del Sur

TWO members of the New People’s Army (NPA) have surrendered to government authorities in the province of Zamboanga del Sur as they wish to live peaceful lives, a top police official announced Monday, April 4, 2022.

Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified them as Emeliana Ansegue alias Ka Neda and Melvin Gose alias Ka Ame, who served as lookouts and couriers of NPA rebels.

Albarico said they surrendered Friday, April 1, in Lower Landing village, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

He said Ansegue is the chairperson of the Barrio Revolutionary Committee while Gose is a member of the same committee in Dilud, Dumingag.

The BRC is under the Front Committee Big Beautiful Country of the NPA’s Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee.

Albarico said the two NPA surrenderers took an Oath of Allegiance administered by Dumingag Mayor Joan Pacalioga Abejuela, chairperson of the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

He said they were placed under the custody of Bonifacio Enlab, Dilud village chief, for their eventual reintegration to mainstream of society. (SunStar Zamboanga)
