Farmer dies, wife, son survive in gun attack

A FARMER was killed while his wife and son survived, though wounded, in a gun attack in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, April 4, 2022.

Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, in his report to the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula, said the incident happened around 5:35 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in Aurora village, Talusan town.

Larubis identified the fatality as Elmer Bravo, Sr., who was declared dead by the attending physician.

Wounded were Jenilyn Bravo and Elmer Bravo Jr. They sustained gunshot wounds and were hospitalized at a hospital in Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Larubis said investigation showed the victims were aboard a motorcycle on the way home when two men riding tandem on another motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of them and opened fire.

He said the suspects sped towards the village of Tuburan, Talusan after the incident.

Larubis said investigation continues to establish the identities and to arrest the suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
