WORLD-renowned Ilonggo artist Arturo Geroche has donated some of his masterpieces to the City Government.

Mayor Jerry Treñas signed the Deed of Donation with the multi-talented artist at City Hall March 31.

“We are grateful to Mr. Geroche for these wonderful works of art that will surely liven up any space. He is truly the pride of every Ilonggo and Filipino as he puts our history, culture and heritage in every masterpiece,” Treñas said.

Geroche, known for creating artworks using a variety of media, donated various sizes of 11 acrylic on canvas paintings that include Jose Rizal’s Iloilo Visit, Barter of Panay, Paraw Regatta, Carabao Carroza Race, Maniniwantiwan Dancing with Golden Manangyad Kulintas, Sakada, Tinagong Dagat Waterlily Woman, Brotherhood for Unity, A Touch of Mercy and Compassion, Battle of Mactan, and The Legacy: A Memory of the Heart.

Treñas said the paintings will be displayed in the upcoming gallery at Ker and Company LTD Building beside City Hall.

Geroche’s donation of his multiple artworks was done out of his love for Iloilo City and the Ilonggos.

He was also the artist behind some cartoons of the mayor showing his advocacy against Covid-19 that came out during the initial year of the pandemic.

More than being an accomplished painter, Geroche is likewise a graphic artist, cartoonist, and illustrator for magazines and publications. (PR)
