THE suspect in the killing of a carpenter at Abada Escay Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City on Sunday, April 4, personally appeared to authorities to clear his name Tuesday morning, April 5.

Captain Elmer Bonilla, commander of Police Station 7, said that Darryl Dasa, of the said village, was tagged as the suspect in the killing of his 36-year-old neighbor Edgar John Mendoza.

Dasa denied the accusations, Bonilla said, adding that "we cannot detain him (anymore) because the hot pursuit operation already lapsed on Monday but we will still file the murder case against him."

Dasa was accompanied by his cousin, whose name was not disclosed, in going to the police station.

Although Dasa was vehemently denying that he killed Mendoza, Bonilla said they have several witnesses that it was indeed him who shot the victim at close range while the latter was doing carpentry works outside their neighbor's house.

Dasa, who was a former detainee for the crime of robbery and theft, said Mendoza tried to axe him.

He said he was surprised when he learned that he was implicated in the killing, although he is willing to face the charges to be filed against him.
