VICE presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio reiterated that other candidates in the 2022 elections are welcome to conduct political rallies in the city.
Duterte-Carpio said under Executive Order (EO) 10 Series of 2022 dated March 7, 2022, political activities in the city are allowed except for motorcades and caravans.
"It's very clear kaniadto pa pag-release nato sa Executive Order adtong (when we released the Executive Order on) motorcades... although prohibited ang (we won’t allow) motorcades, we allow rallies bisan kinsa pa man gusto ang mag-rally (to anyone who wants to stage their own rallies)," she said in an interview streamed live on her official Facebook page on Monday, April 4.
As for UniTeam, the mayor said their party will no longer have any other scheduled activities in Davao Region.
"I think we are already done with Davao Region. Wala mi schedule for (we don’t have any schedule in) Davao City, so far, sa pagkakaron sa nakita nako nga latag nga schedule (as of now based on the schedules)," Duterte-Carpio said.
The UniTeam tandem visited Carmen, Davao del Norte on Wednesday morning, March 30. They also visited Pantukan, Davao De Oro in the afternoon, and Barangay Tres De Mayo, Digos City in Davao del Sur in the evening.
Earlier, Duterte-Carpio said she had refused the UniTeam, led by her and her running mate, former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., from conducting their grand political rally in the city last week.
Meanwhile, the vice presidential candidate said her campaign managers advised her to focus their campaign in other areas.
"Ang akong mga (My) campaign managers always remind me to focus on the areas nga nagsulti sila nga naa pay pwedeng ma-convince nga mga tao nga muboto para kanako (wherein it is said to have voters whom we can still convince to vote for me)," Duterte-Carpio said.
She also disclosed that she and Marcos do not have the same "focus area" in their campaign, which explains why they do not always campaign onstage together.
As of Tuesday, April 5, no other presidential candidates have staged their political rallies in the city. However, former presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, who hails from Davao City, along with Senator Manny Pacquiao, and Leody de Guzman recently visited the city and conducted their election-related activities in some parts of the city.
Vice President Leni Robredo, who is also running for the top national post, along with her running mate, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, staged their grand rally on March 25 in Digos City, Davao del Sur.
