“Women’s Rights, Equal Human Rights” is an advocacy aggressively pursued by the Zonta Club of Cebu 2. The club has effectively partnered with the Mandaue City Government to advance the welfare and protection of women and children against abuse, violence and emotional trauma. The partnership and project has been called “Abay sa Kahayag”—which translates to a guiding light, a helping hand reaching out to distressed cases.

The “18 Days of Activism” against gender-based violence is an annual activity of Zonta, and has been adopted by one of the club’s most active committees, “Abay sa Kahayag,” with a series of relevant events with a focus on this issue.

Supported jointly by the Zonta Club of Cebu 2, one of them was a photo competition inviting professionals, beginners and enthusiasts from all over the country. In line with the current, disastrous Covid-19 pandemic, the organizers conceptualized a most appropriate theme: “Women at the core to the pandemic: Celebrating their resilience and strength.”

The photos showcase the various facets of women during the pandemic—their outlets, their coping mechanisms, their ability to stay resilient even in the most hazardous and challenging times.

Today, we feature the deserving winners in the different categories: grand champion, first and second runner-ups, and special awards like early bird, people’s choice and consolation prizes.

With warm congratulations, Zonta women, may your tribe increase and adhere firmly to your relevant advocacies!
