Fire razes 10 houses in Tipolo, Mandaue

ABOUT 10 houses were destroyed after a fire hit a residential area along Lopez Jaena St. in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City on a rainy Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2022.

These houses were mostly made of light materials, according to lawyer John Eddu Ibañez, chief of staff of Mayor Jonas Cortes.

Ibañez said among the houses that were razed included a house for rent.

The initial data he had gathered was that about 26 families or 81 individuals were affected by the fire that hit around 3:07 p.m.

The displaced individuals were brought to the Tipolo Elementary School for their temporary stay.

According to the City Social Welfare and Services, disaster kits and hot meals were distributed to the fire victims.

Ibañez said each household owner whose house is destroyed in the fire will receive P10,000 in financial assistance.

The firefighters put out the fire at 4:23 p.m. Investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.
