P160,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod, Silay

AUTHORITIES recovered more than P160,000 worth of suspected shabu from separate drug buy-bust operations they conducted in the cities of Bacolod and Silay, Negros Occidental over the weekend.

The operations resulted in the arrests of Jessie Banares, 50, of Purok Kaingin in Barangay Singcang-Airport; Ramonsito Dela Cruz, 41, of Purok San Pedro in Barangay Sum-ag; Edmark Teodosio, alias “Yob”, 29, of Purok Sawmill in Barangay Bata, all in Bacolod City; and George Tumbagahan, alias “Badoy,” 58, of Barangay Mambulac in Silay City.

Teodosio was arrested by members of the Bacolod City Drug Enforcement Unit shortly after midnight Sunday, April 10, in Purok Mabinuligin, Barangay 19 after he transacted with a poseur buyer.

Six sachets of the banned substance weighing four grams and valued at P27,000 were recovered from Teodosio, the police said.

More than an hour later, Banares and Dela Cruz were also arrested in Purok Jupiter, Barangay Singcang-Airport after one of them transacted to a poseur buyer.

The police seized four sachets containing the contraband weighing 10 grams and valued at P68,000 and a .38 caliber revolver with live ammunition, police record showed.

On Saturday, Tumbagahan was arrested with six sachets of suspected shabu weighing 11 grams and valued at P74,000 in Purok Paghidaet, Barangay Mambulac around 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9.
