Four Pinoys see action in Vietnam on April 23

FILIPINO boxers are set to see action in an event on April 23 at The Grand Ho Tram Strip in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Delmar Pellio, Jerome Baloro, Argie Toquero and Romer Pinili will be fighting in regional title fights in Vietnam.

Pellio looks to bounce back from his first career defeat as he faces fast-rising Vietnamese prospect Hong Quan Dinh for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia lightweight strap in the main event.

The 22-year-old Pellio is coming off a unanimous decision defeat in the hands of former Olympian Charly Suarez last year.

Dinh is on a five-fight winning streak after suffering his only career loss against Indonesian Reynold Kundimang in 2018. He’s coming off a second round knockout of South Korean Dong Hee Kim.

Pellio is 9-1 with four knockouts, while the 24-year-old Dinh is 7-1-1 with four knockouts.

In the meantime, Baloro challenges World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental flyweight champion Olimjon Nazarov in the main supporting bout.

The 22-year-old Baloro just suffered his first career loss after a unanimous decision defeat in the hands of Regie Suganob in an IBF Youth light flyweight bout.

Nazarov is no stranger to Filipinos. He owns wins over Filipino pugs Michael Mendoza, Orlie Silvestre and Ivan Soriano.

The 36-year-old Nazarov is rated No. 3 by the WBO and is on the brink of a world title shot.

Baloro is 6-1 with four knockouts, while Nazarov is 27-5 with 15 knockouts.

In the undercard, Toquero (13-5-3, 10 KOs), a former regional champion, trades leathers with Abdurasul Ismoilov (9-1, 5 KOs) for the vacant WBO Oriental light welterweight title, while Romer Pinili (5-0-1, 4 KOs) slugs it out with fellow undefeated prospect Chan Ho Song (6-0, 3 KOs) for the vacant IBF Youth light welterweight belt.
